Growing up in a family of collectors, I spent a fair amount of time poking around in antique shops and lived in a household that revered the past, aesthetically. Surrounded by old advertising art and antique wooden chests, clocks that tick-tocked, windup toys and mechanical penny banks, the patina of age came to be normal and desirable to my eye. My inspiration has always come from old, faded and worn out things. I have been sewing for more than 50 years.
As many people know, twelve years ago I was unable to continue making LoraBears, after 10 years of making them, due to repetitive stress injuries. Three years ago, I devised a new way to construct the bears that’s easier on me and I've returned to it with happiness. The bears are much smaller and remain of the same quality. I hope you will enjoy my efforts after thirteen years of bear making.
Other Animals: Cats are my favorite creatures in the world. I’ve been working on a pattern for cats for a long while and have finally gotten to a point where I’m pleased with the results. I hope you follow along as I continue to tinker, as I do with all my patterns. Dogs are a new adventure and as I explore there will be more to come. The newest addition to the world of LoraBears are rabbits.
