Please meet SATCHMO. This OOAK bear was created by the very talented award winning artist Christie Kotz (The Peach Peddler) in 2013. I adopted Satchmo directly from Christie. He is an amazing bear and has been one of my most adored in my private collection.

I am very grateful to Christie for generously giving her permission for me to use her original photographs and description of Satchmo. He is still in exactly same condition as the photos . He has only been displayed behind glass and out of sunlight. Not played with and from a non-smoking environment.

Christie named Satchmo" after Louis Armstrong, the famous American Jazz Trumpeter and Singer from New Orleans as this was his nickname. He is 100% handsewn from start to finish using doubled and treated Mastex Upholstery thread (each segment sewn twice for durability). ~ Sewn from Christie’s original pattern... Satchmo has been completely lined with strong cotton fabric backing to make sure he will last for generations. His full height is 12" from back of head to heel. This cub does not stand well without a bear stand because of his sculpted feet (his toes are 3D and not flat)....and his weighted belly.

He has been made from a Schulte Mohair/Alpaca Blend fabric with a light brown underpile with dark chocolate brown tips ~ He has a wobble-jointed neck, and setscrew/locknut joints for arms and legs ~ Merino Wool Felt Paws -- solid sewn-in pieces, thread sculpted and then handshaded for depth. Paws are sealed to preserve the color and to keep the color from rubbing off onto other things. ~ Stuffed with Premium Silky Polyfil (highest grade available) ~ Weighted to nearly 1.5 pounds with copper-coated steel shot enclosed in a doubled mesh pouch to prevent the BBs from wandering through the stuffing. He has a hefty feel to him, which makes him feel more cubby. ~ He has imported black glass eyes ~ His nose was embroidered, then heavily sealed with Beeswax ~ He has been extensively thread sculpted and scissor sculpted to give him a sweet cubby expression.

Satchmo will arrive at his new home in his original box, together with his laminated tags which have been kept flat in their original envelope with a paw print embossed wax seal.
Satchmo is an adult collectable and therefore not suitable for children. He contains small components which could easily become choking hazards.
