Introducing Bindi, another of my Australian Gumnut Baby series bears.
Her name Bindi is a Noongar country word meaning butterfly. Noongar country is located in the south-western part of Western Australia.
She is designed to sit, but measures 30cm standing.
Her face was extensively needle felted, using quality Australian merino wool, shaded using pastels - and her nose and eyelids were sanded and sealed multiple times. Her German glass eyes have been hand painted in natural brown colours to compliment her beautiful honey-coloured mohair.
Bindi’s trapunto paw pads were crafted using a light neutral shaded ultra suede, which I then shaded with pastels. I also created her claws using neutral polymer clay, which I then sanded to a smooth finish once hard.
Bindi has a locline spine which allows good neck and head movement, and her arms have also been fitted with locline for mobility. She has locknut and disc joints in arms and legs.
She is filled with polyester fill and a little steel shot for a nice weighty feel. I used ginned cotton in the tips of her paws to provide firmness and stability.
I have sourced May Gibbs ‘Gumnut Babies’ licensed fabric to create her costume - the original story was first published in 1916 and is about fairies living in the Australian bush. Bindi wears a custom made hair tie and wrap, edged with white guipere lace. Both are removable.
Bindi is intended as an adult collectible and is not suitable for small children.
Like all original Nikkel Bears, she will arrive safely packaged, complete with her Certificate of Authenticity and embroidered tush tag.

Return and Refund Policy
All Nikkel Bears are crafted and shipped without faults, and are shipped with tracking and insurance by Australia Post and information is communicated with buyers.
A full investigation will be raised with Australia Post should any item arrived severely damaged or be deemed to be lost in transit, and pending the result of this investigation, a case for refund to the buyer may be considered.
Refunds for any other reason are not available.
