Please meet sweet little Buttercup.

'Buttercup' has an original Bears Of Bath design on her 'Bear Belly' making her a truely unique little bear.

'Buttercup', The Flower Fairy bear is number 26 in the 'Bear Bellies' series and comes with a Bears of Bath Numbered and Signed Certificate.

When I discovered the work of Cicely Mary Barker, (1895 � 1973) illustrator of the famous 'Flower Fairies' I felt inspired to create a 'Flower Fairy Bear'.

Living in the stone circle village of Avebury, the influence of myths and folklore are all around me. Avebury stands on St Michael ley line, an invisible alignment running across England from East Anglia to West Cornwall. Perhaps its influence is what draws people here from all over the world? To be honest I'm not sure what makes this place so special
but I've certainly become more prolific since I moved here.

To the South of my home nestles a cops of Beech trees with exposed twisted and gnarled roots that Folklore insists inspired J R R Tolkien to write 'Lord of the Rings'; the roots suggesting to him a portal to an underworld. Others believe the trees to be inhabited by fairies and elves. Throughout the year travellers attach ribbons and messages to its spreading branches and rest in the shade to soak up the unfamiliar atmosphere...

'Buttercup' is approx 21 cms tall and is made from long, sparse pebble Helmbold mohair. She is fully cotterpin jointed with black glass eyes. She has raw silk on her paws and ears, and is filled using quality polyester stuffing with some plastic pellets for added weight.Her nose if embroidered with brown thread.Her foot pads and belly are painted and varnished canvas.

Hand painted onto heavy top quality artists cotton canvas the painting is tough and durable, however machine washing is not recommended.The canvas is fully primed using several layers and then painted with quality Daler acrylics.The painting also has several layers of varnish to seal and protect the painting.

The canvas has no noticable odour and is quite flexible.
Repeat copies of this design can be supplied on request if required.

'Buttercup' is hand sewn and from a pet and smoke free home.

Bears of Bath is a member of the Guild of Master Bear Crafters
& a finalist of the British Bear Artist Awards 2007
Bears of Bath has also appeared in Teddy Bear Club International.
