This is Archer, he’s a spirit bear cub, and has so much personality! He is made from fluffy alpaca fabric, with a needle felted muzzle and eyelids. These are sealed and then shaded with oil paint. His muzzle has then had a paler coloured alpaca strands inserted securely into it, this gives a wonderful sculpted and seamless finish, though takes rather a long time!

He has hand painted glass eyes, with felted eye whites. His nose is sculpted from apoxy clay, with layers of oil paint, for a realistic look.

His pulled toes and separate paw pads are sewn from ultra suede, stuffed and hand shaded.

He has a lockline spine running the whole length of his body, and his limbs are properly wired, as are his ears. This makes him super poseable, and very easily stands on all fours like a real bear cub, and his ears can be moved to change his expression.

He is filled with a mix of quality polyfil and squashy pellets, this gives him a lovely weight, and feels soft yet firm. His 4 limbs are disk and lock nut jointed. Last but not least, his tail is filled with a mix of soft pellets a steel shot for realistic movement.

Archer is a very special little guy, him and his 2 brothers were a labour of love, and a time endulgence on my part. It will be a long time before I make any more bears using this complicated technique, though I’m very pleased with how they turned out.
