Even when I was a child, it seemed astounding to me that a craftsman can make something completely tangible and even almost alive nearly out of nothing.
I remember my friend’s mom and I were sewing a rabbit. We took pieces of fur, threads, needles and beads. I looked at all this and could not imagine a bunny. And when the bunny was sewn, it looked like a real miracle.
Now I’m a mom myself. I have five children. And making toys is still my favorite pastime. Because it’s real magic to see how a toy in your hands turns into a small lively fluffy lump. And then you understand that actually happiness is in your hands!
