Kelly Dean is a toymaker, a soft-sculpture artist and bearsmith - a craftsman in the old-world style - who makes one-of-kind soft-sculpture for the collectors market. Since first appearing on the scene with a feature article in 'Teddy Bear & Friends' magazine in 1997, he has consistently provided collectors with innovative, original and unique soft-sculpture that transcends the boundaries between art and toy.His work has been featured in numerous magazines and trade journals and can be found in museums throughout the world. Completely hand made from original patterns, the pieces are complicated, poseable and often intricately dressed,. He uses only the finest fabrics & notions and scours the world for original props and vintage accessories to outfit them with. Much of his work is by commission, and the pieces are individually crafted to reflect the personality of their new owners and may incorporate clothing or other personal items that hold special memories.
