Hello there!! My name is Maxine & I live in the U.K. I have been creating soft sculptures since 2014 after I went through a period of illness where collecting teddy bears lifted my spirits. Collecting bears gave me the inspiration to create my own & I have never looked back. I come from a fine art background & am in love with colour & texture. It’s extremely relaxing to handsew for me & bearmaking is great therapy! I find such joy in creating these special soft sculptures & would say my style is realistic mixed with quirkiness & loads of character plus personality. All my bears & critters are weighted with steel shot for that extra realistic feel & hug but not that heavy so you can’t pick them up for a cuddle. Every animal is 5-way jointed. I really do hope you enjoy looking at my creations. They are all made with much love & heart & are all one of a kind. Every pattern is designed by me & never used twice. This makes my soft sculptures true one of a kind creations. Sometimes I design outfits for my bears which is so much fun! Every bear & outfit that I make is handsewn, I never use a sewing machine. This year (2021) I entered my first competition, the prestigious URSA MAJOR & won an award for my dog, Toby! To say I was blown away by this achievement is a massive understatement!!
