I have been making bears under the name of Hugs Unlimited for over 30 years. I have loved bears from a very young age and I hope that this shows in my work. I also love real bears and last year and in 2009, walked 50 miles to a WSPA Bear Sanctuary in Romania to raise much needed funds for rescued Europen Brown Bears. I wil be doing this again in September 2012. During the last 7 years, I have won several first place awards including 13 British Bear Artist Awards and the UK Teddy Bear Artist Event Challenge. I believe that the feel of the bear is as important as the look and I use different fillings to make sure that my bears have a nice weight and most importantly have the ultimate 'cuddle' factor! The bears I make reflect the bears I loved so much as a child and I use careful aging techniques and airbrushing to really make them come alive. All my bears are made with natural fibres, not just the mohair but the fillings as well. Although most of my bears are either bare or simply dressed I do occasionally make more elaborate costumes for them and when I do, I love to use vintage fabric and accessories.
