Sisters Judy and Jill Sword began making bears in 1997 after taking a series of evening courses at their local quilt shop. Thus began an new chapter in our careers - retail store owner and bear makers. The ensuing years were spent operating a retail store, specializing in teddy bear supplies and teaching others the art of teddy bear making.
In the spare moments a diverse range of bears were being designed and created, ranging from the traditional to the wacky and outrageous that have become ever so popular. Each bear is made from the finest German mohair and is hand sewn allowing special attention to all those features that say "please add me to your hug!"
Bear making has become an international passion for the two sisters. Not only do they attend bear exhibitions and shop for materials around the world, they have also discovered a distant relative from Scotland who is also an award winning bear artist. Now we say that bear collecting/making is not an addiction, but in the genes.
